Our Mission – Daneland Living History in Development
Daneland Living History is not merely a recreation of the Viking Age – it is a society in development.
In 2025, Daneland began as a community where, in our appearance and presentation, we primarily portrayed the lives of farmers. In 2026, we took the next step and began working more deliberately with the social layers that existed in Viking Age society. Dennir was portrayed as a wealthy and influential man, while differences in status between the members gradually began to become visible.
In 2027, Daneland will take another major step forward. The society will become more developed, and the different social roles will become a clearer part of our Living History. Dennir will become Jarl Dennir, while Karl Atli, Karl Manni and Karl Torbjørn will serve as his household warriors. Their status and roles will not simply be part of the story – they will be visible in our clothing, equipment, appearance and the way we act.
The other members of Daneland will continue to represent different social classes, allowing visitors to experience that Viking Age society was not made up of people with the same status, wealth and opportunities.
At the same time, we are expanding our historical combat demonstrations. In 2027, spears will become part of Daneland’s combat demonstrations. This will give us another opportunity to show different aspects of historical combat and further develop our interpretation.
For us, Living History is about development over time. Daneland should not be the same from year to year. We want our visitors to follow a society that grows, changes and becomes more nuanced – through our equipment, clothing, roles and the way we tell the story.
2025 was the beginning. 2026 was development. 2027 will be the next chapter in Daneland’s history.

Daneland Living History nu este doar o reconstituire a epocii vikinge – este o societate aflată în continuă dezvoltare.
În 2025, Daneland a început ca o comunitate în care, prin aspectul și prezentarea noastră, am reprezentat în principal viața țăranilor. În 2026, am făcut următorul pas și am început să lucrăm mai atent cu diferitele niveluri sociale existente în societatea epocii vikinge. Dennir a fost prezentat ca un bărbat bogat și influent, iar diferențele de statut dintre membri au început treptat să devină vizibile.
În 2027, Daneland va face un nou pas important. Societatea va deveni mai dezvoltată, iar diferitele roluri sociale vor deveni o parte mai clară a experienței noastre de Living History. Dennir va deveni Jarl Dennir, iar Karl Atli, Karl Manni și Karl Torbjørn vor face parte din oamenii săi de încredere, războinicii casei sale. Statutul și rolurile lor nu vor fi doar parte din poveste – acestea vor putea fi observate în îmbrăcămintea, echipamentul, aspectul și modul nostru de a acționa.

In Daneland, Living History is not just about looking at history – it is about stepping into it.
When visitors enter Daneland, they encounter a living Viking society where crafts, training, games and everyday life take place around them. Our activities are designed to give both children and adults the opportunity to experience what life in the Viking Age might have been like.
Visitors can try their hand at leatherworking and wool braiding, working with materials and techniques inspired by Viking Age craftsmanship. Through archery, visitors can experience one of the skills that held an important place in Viking society.
In the Daneland arena, visitors can become part of the experience themselves. Under our guidance, they can try historical weapons and shields and experience what it feels like to take part in a Viking combat situation. At the same time, our members demonstrate combat techniques, weapon handling and physical training inspired by Viking warriors.
For younger visitors and families, our historical games are an important part of the experience. Through play, children can get a sense of how people might have entertained themselves and competed in a time without modern technology.
All of this takes place as part of the living society around Daneland. Craftsmen work, warriors train, people meet, children play, and everyday life continues around the visitors.
Our goal is that you do not simply visit Daneland – but that, for a while, you feel as though you have stepped into the Viking Age.
În Daneland, Living History nu înseamnă doar să privești istoria – înseamnă să pășești în ea.
Atunci când vizitatorii intră în Daneland, descoperă o societate vikingă vie, în care meșteșugurile, antrenamentele, jocurile și viața de zi cu zi se desfășoară în jurul lor. Activitățile noastre sunt create pentru a le oferi atât copiilor, cât și adulților posibilitatea de a experimenta cum ar fi putut fi viața în Epoca Vikingă.
